On the contrary, they were charged because they acted as oracles and palm readers and not scientists. The fact is that they said something they should never have said. 

They, the head of the Great Risks Commission, in a public interview, told the people of L’Aquila, who were camping out on the streets because of the tremors, that it was safe to go home and sleep in their houses. And that is when the earthquake hit. 

The scientists should have stuck to science and not give assurances about things they did not have evidence for. But they pretended to know, and acted like palm readers.

Al contrario, essi sono accusati perché hanno agito come oracoli e veggenti e non come scienziati. Il fatto è che hanno detto qualcosa che non avrebbe dovuto dire.
 

Essi, cioè il capo della Commissione grandi rischi, in un'intervista pubblica, ha detto alla gente di L'Aquila, che erano accampati per le strade a causa delle scosse, che era sicuro di andare a casa a dormire nelle loro case. E questo quando il terremoto ha colpito.

Gli scienziati dovrebbero essere attaccati alla scienza e non dare assicurazioni su cose di cui non hanno prove. Ma loro hanno preteso di sapere e hanno agito come veggenti.
